PRESENTATIONS IN THE KIN HUT
PRESENTATION: Tribal Journeys
Tribal Journeys are canoe journeys organized by First Nations as a way to reconnect with their traditional cultures and they are renown as healing journeys for both youth and adults. Held almost annually, each journey has a different destination and as the journey progresses, the canoe flotilla stop each night at various villages who host the canoes. Along the way more canoes join the journey, often more than 100 canoes and over 1000 pullers arrive at the destination. Fran Tait and Liz Hammond-Kaarremaa have done two journeys, from Port Hardy to Cowichan Bay and from Nanaimo to Bella Bella and are about to embark on a third journey south to Nisqually. Their slideshow and talk will show you a paddling journey of a different kind.
